Commonly Reported Vizio TV Problems

vizio_logo_ratings_box_logoTechnology has no doubt come a long way over the years and continues to advance rapidly. Of course, it is far from perfect and there are a number of things that can go wrong with any given household appliance or gadget. There are some very impressive televisions on the market these days. Vizio, for example, offers an array of LCD, LED, and plasma models in all sizes. Any of these common Vizio TV problems may arise at any time throughout the life of the set.

Perhaps the most common complaint regarding Vizio TVs is the appearance of a blank black screen even when the set is switched on and the indicator light is glowing. The screen may still light up in some instances, but in either case the screen remains blank. This issue is usually corrected by replacing the power board, but there are several other things that could be the culprit, like the backlight converter, the T-con board, or even just a faulty screen itself. If a repair shop does not have all of the LCD TV parts that could possibly be causing the problem readily available, they may need to order them all in order to single out the guilty part, which can get rather pricey.

Faulty remotes are another common issue. This is one of the much easier and inexpensive Vizio TV problems to fix. Usually this is due to a bad IR sensor or a loose wire and the parts can generally be found online for less than 20 bucks. If the cause is unknown, just replacing the remote altogether is also fairly easy and of course less expensive than dealing with a problem with the TV itself.

Commonly reported Vizio TV problems also include sound-related issues. This may be a matter of faulty speakers or disconnected wires, which are both easily remedied. If it is an issue with the main unit, then it will be a little more difficult and expensive to fix.

There are many shops offering LCD TV repair services. Purchasing an extended warranty is usually advised to cover the cost of potential expensive repairs and replacements but you will need to rely on your judgment on whether the price of the extended warranty will truly be worth it (most of them are quite pricey).

First of all this company sales bad products. I purchased two Vizio sets within a year apart the first one an E50 the screen just went black one day as i sat watching it, just over a year old and the warranty is out and the newer one I purchased two months ago aM658-G1 comes on by itself. we were out of town for a week and when we returned the TV was playing we thought someone was inside of our home.Garbage there will never be another product from this company to cross the threshhold of my home again unless its on the way out.

We have a 22″ Vizio TV which is approximately 4 to 5 years old. This set works fine except for the occasional problem of turning itself ON when no one is near the set. It is very random; we have been away from home and have seen it turned ON when we return. There is no pattern to the malady but it is annoying; some of the episodes are 2 weeks to 3 weeks apart…but there is no defined time period. I don’t want to keep the set plugged in for an extended time period.
What can be the causative for the phenomenon?

I have a 37″ Vizio, had not had any problems till recently where TV starts turning on in the middle of the night. Last night turned on 3 different times throughout night. Last time it happened around 0400 I turned TV off and removed batteries from remote and it still turned on 5 minutes later. Go figure. I am trying a hard reset by disconnecting power source to see if this fixes the problem if not then I’m getting rid of this TV.

Has anyone reported them to the BBB? Think it’s well worth the time. Maybe Vizio will take responsibility for their bad business techniques. They’re selling lemons and giving everyone the finger afterwards. If their TV’s were cars they’d be long out of business and probably serving some time in the penn.

Someone should file a class action lawsuits. Vizio replaced my original 60′ smart TV 4 months after I bought it because it got a gray band going through the picture. Now not even a year later, the refurbished replacement they brought me (Which is bullshit in the first place since I bought a brand new tv, I feel I should receive a brand new replacement tv. If I wanted a secondhand tv, that’s what I would’ve bought for a fraction of the price.) Screen goes black tonight, typical shit they recalled all those TV’s a few years ago type thing, and I get, “To bad. Wish I had better news but there’s nothing we will do. It’s out of warranty.” Funny thing is I asked the rep to email me the information on when I received this replacement tv, and he said he didn’t have that information to, it didn’t get entered into the system. He did give me a name of a woman I’ve never heard of in an inquiring tone so I feel like this tv has gone through more than just a couple people before getting to me.

I believe that the word “Vizio” is an ancient word that when translated into English means.. POS!!..So don’t buy a POS!!.
That said it’s hard not to buy a POS TV these days,, the name brand on any particular Television may not even be who actually made it. So you may buy a Sony, only to find it was made by some other company who does not have a good track record when it comes to making a reliable unit…If your thinking about buying a TV, stay away from anything that’s fresh on the market, that way you can see how well it fairs on down the road from reviews left by other people online,,or in chat rooms for issues with that unit etc..

I had a 49″ and a 55″ Vizio TV, both were just over a year old and out of warranty. The 49″ started receiving a gray screen on the top and yesterday the 55″ turn and went black. Vizio’s tech support couldn’t assist. It seems with all of the complaints about the same issues you would think Vizio would honor their products. Never again will I purchase a Visio product.

I have a Vizio 43″ smart TV about 2 yrs old. Sometimes when I turn it on, the screen is bright pink or this will happen when I change the channel. Sometimes it will say “does not support the resolution” or sometimes say to check connection to the HMD. This is happening more and more. And when I turn the TV on it takes a about a minute for it to actually show a picture. This is frustrating. Is this TV going bad? Or is it just Vproblems with this TV model?
