UPDATE: Training now includes information on 3D, LED, OLED and Smart TVs!

The liquid crystal display (LCD) has come a long way from its Japanese digital watch beginnings. Today you’ll find LCDs/LEDs/OLEDs everywhere and one area that it has experienced exponential growth in is in the entertainment devices industry, particularly, the flat screen television segment.

If you bought one yourself and are looking and are reading this post then I’m guessing things may have turned ugly for you and your LCD or LED/OLED TV and that perhaps you’re looking for some repair information. If you’re still within the warranty period then you may stop reading and just bring it to the manufacturer’s service center and have it fixed for free. Otherwise, please read on.

Note: Members area now includes information on OLED & Smart TV repair!

In my opinion, being able to do simple things like replacing the busted backlights or fix the power supply module of flat screen TVs should become an option for TV owners versus having no choice at all but to bring it in to a repair shop or service center and then get charged a painfully high premium a fix that would otherwise be a simple tweak. Learning how to repair your TV yourself can be a great exercise for you because it can save you a lot of money and perhaps even let you earn extra cash by doing the same service for others.

My cat laid on my remote and turned the TV off. Now I cannot get it to come back on. Looks like the TV is OK , get a notice on screen that says “no program or weak signal” . Guessing it is not getting signal from cable box. Any idea what buttons were pushed and which ones to push to get the signal back? It’s a Direct TV box.

I liked that you pointed out that you can save yourself some money when you do repair your self when it comes to lights. Personally, I would be too scared to do any repairs on a TV myself. So I would rather pay money for a professional to do it.
