Samsung LED TV Backlight Replacement/Repair Tips (w/ Video)

Here is a great video on the step-by-step LED backlight replacement process on a Samsung 50-inch LED TV (See a list of the specific models below which you ca use this video as reference for).

This video is very useful for those who have, by one way or another, confirmed that faulty LED backlights for their Samsung TV require replacement.

What symptoms will require replacing backlights on your TV? Basically, if your TV is showing no images/pictures on the screen (also known as the black screen of death problem) then one possible explanation are bad LED backlights. Obviously, it is not an outright explanation because there can be other causes for LCD screens going dark/black with no more images/pictures appearing. It can sometimes be caused by a bad T-Con board or main board. It can also be caused by a damaged LCD panel itself.

We discussed some tips on diagnosing backlight problems in a previous post (Vizio and LG LCD TV Repair: LED backlight repair or replacement) and you might want to check it out as it should provide more insights for this type of repair. Note that one specialized diagnostic tool that you might want to get is an LED backlight tester which can tell you specific LED strips that have gone bad. (Also read: Flashlight Test)

Below is a list of Samsung LCD HD TV models that the above video is applicable to. Note that if you do not find your TV’s specific model in the list, you may want want to go get more info from the Samsung Support page before you proceed with any DIY Samsung device repair. You will need to find out the exact part numbers for the LED backlights that is compatible with your specific model.

For the above video, the applicable parts and part numbers are given below:
