[VIDEO] Repairing TCL 55-Inch Roku Smart LED TVs via Board Replacement Kits [Models 55FS3750 (1080p) and 55US5800 (4K)]

In today’s videos we will see one of the most popular approaches to DIY repairs of electronic devices like today’s flat screens. This approach makes sense if you are mostly a non-technical person or is a newbie or an amateur electronics tinkerer.

There are cases when the issue in your device can be fixed relatively easier by replacing the entire board that contains the faulty parts. This means you don’t have to perform the repairs at the circuit-level of the malfunction and can just go buy kits to replace entire boards.

The good news is that for many TV models, you can buy such circuit board replacement kits like the ones used in the videos below to fix a couple of TCL smart TV models. You can buy such kits from online TV parts stores like ShopJimmy.com who incidentally also made the videos below (Thanks, ShopJimmy!).

The above videos walk you through the steps needed to perform the replacement of the power supply board, the main board and the T-Con board. And the steps pretty simple enough that even non-technical folks could probably do it. All you need are the most basic tools to perform the repair since you only need to remove the old boards and replace them with the new ones.

As the videos show, all you need to do is lay the TV on its front so you have access to the back panel. Once the back panel is removed, a key step is to take detailed pictures of the boards, paying special attention to the connections so you don’t lose track. Next is to disconnect the cables and board connections and then unscrew the board from the chassis so you can free up the faulty board. Once the old board is removed, you can screw on the new board onto the chassis and then reconnect the cables. Be sure to refer to the pictures taken if in doubt.

Do the same for the other boards.

Again, it is important to reiterate that this assumes that the fault has been properly diagnosed. It is possible that the problem with your unit has causes that may not be due to the power boards, main boards and/or the T-con board, or may have root causes apart from those boards. I suggest consulting with a professional before undergoing a DIY repair, if you are unsure of what you are doing. If you’re buying the kits from online stores like ShopJimmy.com, they may be able to provide some technical support so I would probably try and take advantage of that. Let them know you’re level of technical knowledge so they can provide suitable guidance.

As always, take the necessary precautions before undertaking this project.
